Air Fryer Steak (Cooked to Perfection) Recipe

Air-frying everything has been my goal for weeks.  My new favourite is air-fried steak. 

– 2 strips steaks (loin, 1.25" thick; or use any steaks of your choosing) – 2 tsp. salt (plus more to taste) – 2 tsp. black pepper (plus more to taste) – 2 Tbsp. butter (melted)


Salt and pepper steaks on a tray and refrigerate uncovered for 2-3 days. Paper towels blot juices every 12 hours.

Lacking time? Skipping this step improves smoothness and flavour.Let steaks cool 45-60 minutes before cooking.

Melt butter on both sides of steaks on air fryer rack. No preheating, 15 minutes for medium doneness at 410F.

Cook for 1–2 minutes less for medium rare and rare, and 1-2 minutes more for medium-well and well done.

Air-frying times vary for steaks thicker or thinner than 1.25".  Estimate cooking times with an instant-read thermometer and Notes.

Serve air-fried steaks after 10 minutes of foil or wax paper rest. Serving with compound butter improves flavour.
