Kyrie Irving teases Celtics fans, guarantees Mavericks will make it back to Boston for Game 5

It hasn't been a smooth return for Kyrie Irving to Boston. His Mavericks lost the first two games of the 2024 NBA Finals.

Irving has struggled, scoring 12 points, 6 of 19 in Game 1 and 16 points, 7-of-18 in Game 2. The Celtics' perimeter defenders, Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, have tested the previous NBA champion.

Irving seems confident despite his early-series struggles. After Dallas' Game 2 loss, he told anyone in green as he left the court.

Celtics fans jeered and chanted "Kyrie sucks" as Irving entered the locker room after another poor performance.

Bostonians have criticised Irving since his 2019 controversial departure. Although things have calmed down in recent seasons, the two parties still hate each other.

The custom appears to have persisted after Irving joined the Mavs. If Irving's assurance failed, Bostonians wouldn't let him forget it.
